SYMBOL MARK
The geographical feature of the maritime city, Shinan gun, composed of 1004 islands was visualized as a developmental graphic motif of the number 1004 and the 1004 islands were connected as one. The diverse cultures and clean environment were simply represented as one solid color.
Mascot
Gun mascot (Hongdori) the widely known fish, 'Hongeo(Skates)' of Heuksan-island, was embodied and personalized to give a familiar impression and the name, 'Hongdori,' was made to be reminiscent of Hongeo and Hong do (island), the tourist attraction, and to symbolize the image of 'advanced fishery and tourism'.
Slogan
Representing the archipelago and an angel (the phonetic sound of 1004 in Korean is the same as that of angel in Korean) at the same time, the slogan has a dual meaning of Angel that Shinan has the most number of islands (1004) in Korea and the people's angelic personalities of being liberal-hearted and pristine. Green color was used to represent the clean islands and the Shinan people's dream to open the future was embodied as angel's wings.
