Bigeumdo Island, being a gateway in the southwestern sea that connects Mokpo and the area of Heuksando and Hongdo Islands, was designated as Dadohae Marine National Park and as a biosphere zone by UNESCO, and is the best eco tourist site many tourists visit. It is a beautiful island where the original form of unique island culture, such as jumping, Ganggangsuwolrae(traditional Korean circle dance), Bamdarae play(traditional all night play), Stone Totem Pole and Naechon Stone Wall, is in good preservation.
It is a place having a variety of attractions to see and enjoy, such as Heart Beach which is famous as the filming site of 'Spring Waltz', the extensive Myeongsasipri Beach which, in harmony with the wind power generators, elicits exclamations, and the vast Daedong Salt Field which is a treasure house of solar salt that is produced on germanium mud flat.
Especially, Bigeumdo Island is the hometown of Lee Se-dol, a genius in playing Baduk(oriental chess), and also, is the nationally renowned home land of spinach.
