  • Description on Jangsando field song
    • Jangsando field song has its own regionally unique rhythm and in each chapter, there are various variations in rhythm and they move from Jungmori to Jungjungmori.
    • Typically, farming songs are cheerful and exciting but Jangsando field songs are cheerful but sad and contain the sorrow of the lonely life in an island village and inner sentiment. There are songs for pulling out of seedling in the rice plates, songs for planting rice, songs for removing weeds from rice paddies, songs for going to work to the fields and songs for coming back to the village after work.
    • Singing first and singing in response are well harmonized and by promoting the hard farming work to the cheerful field songs, the ancestors made the work fun with these folk songs. It shows our ancestors' wisdom. These field songs received the Grand Prize in the 12th Namdo Cultural Contest in 1981 and the Prime Minister Prize in the 23rd National Folk Art Contest in 1982. Jangsando field songs have been passed down in Jangsando Field Song Learning Center established in 2001 by its preservation community.
