With the Subway lines number 4 and 7 running through Nowon-station, its surrounding area is one of the five areas in Seoul with the most transient populations and serves as a main area in the northeastern part of Seoul. Adjacent to the border area to Gyeonggi-do, Surak mountain and Bulam mountain are situated attracting many hikers and the forest park contributes to the residents' physical and emotional health. Thus, Nowon-gu serves as a gateway to the eastern area of Seoul.
