Hongdo Island, an island of fantasy keeping 1,000 years' secret
Hongdo Island is a small island located 115km from Mokpo and 22km from Heuksando Island. It is called Hongdo, a red island, because the whole area of the island appears red at sunset.
The entire island was nominated as Natural Monument No. 170 and as Dadohae Marine National Park. Hongdo Island, with its beauty, was proudly ranked No. 1 in the "100 Selected Tourist Attractions for Koreans" designated by Korea Tourism Organization in 2012, and is very popular as a marine tourism beauty spot every Korean should visit at least once.
